Mountain Bike Advocacy
International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) - IMBA is a non-profit educational association whose mission is to create, enhance and preserve trail opportunities for mountain bikers worldwide. Since 1988, IMBA has been bringing out the best in mountain biking by encouraging low-impact riding, volunteer trail work participation, cooperation among different trail user groups, grassroots advocacy and innovative trail management solutions. The Chattanooga Area Singletrack Alliance is affiliated IMBA club.
Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) - SORBA is a multi-chapter advocacy organization with chapters throughout southeast. SORBA-Chattanooga operates as the Chattanooga Chapter of SORBA.
Regional Mountain Bike Clubs
Appalachian Mountain Biking Association - (SORBA-AMBA) - Based out of Knoxville, the newly formed Appalachian Mountain Biking Association serves the interests of mountain bikers in the greater Knoxville area. At the present time they do not have a website, but use the a Knoxville message board to communicate and announce their upcoming events.
Big South Fork Bicycling Club - No Website - The Big South Fork Bicycling Club has been one of the Big South Park's most active volunteer groups. They have constructed a mountain bike specific trail and have spent countless hours performing maintenance on several multi-use trails. They played a key role in getting the Grand Gap Loop trail opened to mountain bike use on weekdays as part of a trail sharing program.
Chattanooga Bicycle Club - Primarily a road touring club, this organization, based out of Chattanooga, leads occasional mountain bike rides.
Columbia Cycling Club - The Columbia Cycling Club serves the interests of mountain bikers in Columbia, TN. They designed and constructed and maintain the Chickasaw Trace mountain bike trail.
Middle Tennessee Chapter of SORBA - (SORBA-Mid Tn) - Based out of Nashville, TN, SORBA-Mid Tn serves the interests of mountain bikers in middle tennessee. The were responsible for the layout, design and construction of the mountain bike trails at Long Hunter State Park. They help maintain several trail systems including the mountain bike trail at Fall Creek Falls State Park and Montgomery Bell State Park.
North West Georgia Chapter of SORBA - (NWGA-SORBA) - Based in Dalton, GA, NWGA-SORBA serves the interests of mountain bikers in the north west area of Georgia. They help maintain several sections of the Georgia Pinhoti Trail and are in the process of constructing a mountain bike park in Dalton.
