The Mountain Creek park project is a joint venture of the North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy, The Land Trust for Tennessee, SORBA Chattanooga, Southeastern Climbers Coalition, Access Fund, and Hamilton County Parks Department. This project will span a 200-acre parcel of land that adjoins Reads Lake Road, Mountain Creek Rd. and parts of the W-Road. Once completed, this natural park area will create downhill mountain biking & bouldering opportunities within the Hamilton County Park system.

The RTP funds will be used in conjunction with additional grant funds received from the Lyndhurst Foundation, the Access Fund, and REI.

Tentative plans are to begin construction on the park no later than January 2019

Funding for RTP grants is provided by the Federal Highway Administration through the Fixing Americans Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. TDEC administers this grant program for the state. The maximum federal share for each project is 80 percent, with RTP grant recipients providing a 20 percent match. Grant recipients were selected through a scoring process with careful consideration given to the projects that met the selection criteria and expressed the greatest local recreation need.
