Tennessee State Parks Public Comment Open
Help Shape the Future of Two Local State Parks
Tennessee State Parks is currently accepting public comments on draft Strategic Management Plans — and two local parks with mountain bike trails need our voices:
Booker T. Washington State Park
North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park
These plans guide how parks invest in trails, infrastructure, access, and stewardship for 10 years. This is a real opportunity to advocate for sustainable and well-maintained mountain bike experiences in our region.
Key priorities we’re encouraging comments on:
Booker T. Washington State Park: Replacement of aging trail bridges impacted by erosion. SORBA volunteers built the current bridge over 20 years ago — it’s time for long-term park investment before the bridge(s) fail.
North Chickamauga Creek Gorge (Flipper Bend): Improving and formalizing the park’s only mountain bike trails, bringing them up to sustainable MTB standards with proper design, signage, and mapping — and exploring future trail connections that improve access and equity.
Public comments are open through January 31
We’ve provided a boilerplate comment below to make it easy — feel free to personalize it with why these trails matter to you.
Strong community input helps parks prioritize resources. Let’s show up for the trails we ride and the parks we care about.
