LMC Summer Ride Series
The LMC Summer Ride Series is a five-week mountain biking program created in partnership with Lookout Mountain Conservancy and White Oak Bicycle Co-op to introduce 17 Howard High School students to the joy, freedom, and confidence that comes with riding trails.
But this program is about more than bikes—it’s about access, equity, and transformation.
With your support, we can provide essential gear for safe riding, maintain LMC’s mountain bike fleet, support instruction, staffing, and volunteer engagement, and most importantly, gift each student their own bike for continued recreation, transportation, and independence once the program ends.
Your donation ensures that each young rider walks away with more than skills—they gain lasting access to a bike, trails, and a deeper connection to the outdoors.

Raccoon Refresh Project
A 2024 trail assessment of Raccoon Mountain's 30+ miles of singletrack confirmed urgent work is needed to preserve its iconic, technical character and stay rideable for years to come.
Time, weather, and heavy use have taken their toll on this 15+ year-old trail system, and without essential upkeep, these trails will continue to deteriorate.
We’re not here to dumb down the trails or take away their flavor—we’re here to refresh and reinforce key sections to fight erosion, improve sustainability, and protect the raw, technical character that makes Raccoon one of the best trail systems in the Southeast.
To make this happen, we need your help. We’re raising $25,000 to cover the costs of materials and labor. Your donation will directly fund trail repairs, drainage improvements, and long-term sustainability efforts.

Trail Impact Study
How do trails impact you?
We’re partnering with the UTC’s Sport, Outdoor Recreation, and Tourism Department to build on the 2022 economic impact study of mountain biking in our region. Through user surveys and trail counters installed at key trailheads, we’ll collect real-time data to better understand how, when, and why our trails are used. These insights will guide smarter planning, support trail advocacy, and highlight the critical role trails play in Chattanooga’s outdoor economy & community life.
By funding this effort, you're helping prove that Chattanooga isn’t just a great place to ride—it’s a true mountain bike destination. You’re also helping show that trails deliver real, measurable benefits to our residents: from local business growth to improved physical and mental health. Trails are more than recreation—they’re infrastructure for a healthier, more connected, and more resilient community.
Need: $4,000

“I love the mountain bike culture in Chattanooga and that is a big part of why my family and I moved here. I’m from a smaller town in Texas and growing up I watched the natural landscape evolve (or rather devolve) into a suburban endless stretch of housing development. Chattanooga seems to have the foresight to value preservation of the nature that makes this place great. SORBA is a nonprofit that carries out this ethos in combination with my favorite thing to do outside, riding bikes on dirt! I’ll happily be contributing to SORBA as long as I am able.”
